New Twitbin!
So last night, we launched the latest version of twitbin, and I wanted to breakdown the new details. You’ll immediatly notice the time stamps now as well as a little box next to some names. The box with the arrow is a direct link to that person’s personal homepage.
If you go to preferences, you will also notice that three things have changed. For starters, we have changed the refresh options. They are now 3, 10, 30, and 45. We chose these becuase they were the most demanded refresh times.
The second change is the @ Messages preference. This will list all your @ Messages in the sidebar, so as to allow you to sort through them.
The final change is the D messages preferences. Just like the @ Messages, this will allow you to see all the dmessages that were sent to you.
If you don’t see any of these changes on your twitbin, just clear your cache, and they will appear. As always, we want to hear from the users, so please, feel free to leave a comment here on what you think about the latest version.
Enjoy!

I love the updates, especially the timestamps and the new URL. Thank you so much!
A suggestion: would you consider using all lower case and/or a slightly smaller font for the timestamps?
Thanks again!

YAY. I like the new updates — was a very nice surprise to load twitbin and see the timestamps.

Ok am I the only one? At first I thought it was my imagination… but now its happening often enough it’s gotten to be a major annoyance. I am typing a message in the message line and if twitbin refreshes while I’m typing, what I’m typing disappears; and I have to start over. This never happened before the upgrade. Please Please fix…..
Thanks

Vikki — how funny! I came back here to post exactly the same comment. When TwitBin refreshes, my half-composed tweet disappears completely. I also didn’t have that problem in the prior versions.
I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.4 — the behavior happens on both WinXP and Win2000.

Hey guys,
We are very sorry for this bug. We have yet to encounter it, but obviously its out there. We’ve been working on it since Vikki brought it up so hopefully we’ll get a fix for it real soon.
Thanks for bringing it up to our attention though, you guys really help us get the kinks out.
We’ll keep you informed.

I love the new features as well, especially the link to people’s websites. I also have encountered the bug where I am typing a tweet and lose it when there is a refresh.
One feature that would be nice is when I am viewing direct messages there would be an icon that I could click on that would allow me to respond directly. I don’t know if that can be done in Twitbin itself or if it would open up a browser window like when you click on a person’s name.

I’m pretty sure we’ve fixed this issue. If anyone can still duplicate it, let us know. Thanks for notifying us of this!

Hi Xavier — I no longer experience the refresh bug on Firefox 2.0.0.4 on Win 2000. Thanks so much for the quick fix!
I have not yet had a chance to try it on my Win XP machine. Will report back when I get a chance. Thanks again.

Thought you’d want to know — I also no longer experience the bug on Firefox 2.0.0.5 on Win 2000.
Cheers!

The bug is also gone now in Firefox 2.0.0.4 on Windows XP. Hurrah!

Cool app, gang. Thanks!
Question: TwitBin seems to behave randomly when I click on a link in a Tweet. Sometimes it opens a new window. Sometimes a new tab. Sometimes it uses the current tab (and today, a non-current tab). This is all in FF 2.0.0.5 and 2.0.0.6.
Request: Make the @twitname convention turn into a link to that user’s Twitter.com/twitname stream.

Jack,
Thanks for notifying us of this issue. We do know of this problem. Actually the problem only arises on the first tweet post in your list, and none of the others. We’ve fixed it already on our side, but are making a few other changes and upload the latest version soon.
Regarding your @message idea, we’re working on that too. We’ve been asked about this before and decided to go ahead and make this possible.
We’ll keep you posted as soon as we release the latest version.
Thanks!
