We’ve had a couple people email us regarding not being able to register an account on Twitbin. So we wrote this post to hopefully help those people out as well as others who may stumble upon the same problem. Remember, this post only applies to users that do not yet have a Twitter account.

Before downloading Twitbin, you need to first visit www.Twitter.com/signup and create an account. Twitter is a free service and it’s a really cool social-network and micro-blogging application. Now that you’ve created your account, you will have Twitter credentials. With those, you can now go to Twitbin.com and click on the download link.

This will in turn take you to our Firefox download page where you can download Twitbin as well as read and write a review. Once you download Twitbin, you will have to restart Firefox in order to complete the install. when it restarts, you will notice a litte blue bird icon on the same line as your address bar, as well as a really tiny icon on the bottom right of your status bar. If you dont see a status bar, simply go to View and then Status Bar in your Firefox top menu.

You’ll notice that upon the restart of Firefox you will have a page loaded that allows you to learn everything you need to know to get started with twitbin. If you accidentally closed that page, here’s the link : www.twitbin.com/welcome . This page should help you get started with Twitbin, and if it doesnt, feel free to go to our Community Service page at www.getsatisfaction.com/twitbin .

Hope all of this helps the new users to Twitbin!

It’s come to our attention that a good amount of our users are reporting that upon install, or update of Twitbin, the bird icon isn’t present. This has been bugging us so we’ve dug up a few answers that will hopefully help anone with this problem out.

First off, be aware that just because you don’t see the bird icon, doesn’t mean Twitbin is not there. If you have the latest version of Twitbin, you should have a little bird icon on the bottom right of your browser window in the status bar. If you don’t have the status bar visible, simply click on View and then make sure that Status Bar is checked. Now if you click on the bird in the status, this will open twitbin in your sidebar.

Another way to solve this is to manually add the bird in the navbar. It seems that many people have numerous add-ons, and sometimes, they just don’t get along, which will cause the icon to be allowed on the nav bar. Have no fear, simply click on View -> Toolbars -> Customize, and this will open a window. Scroll down and you should see your little bird icon there. Simply drag and drop it onto your navbar, and that’s it. Now if you click on it, Twitbin will open.

Finally, with the help of a loyal user numnutz (no seriously, that’s what he/she signed the messages with, so i have to at least credit him/her) it came to our attention that Twitbin and the Skype add-on, specifically version 2.2.0.102, don’t get along. If you are unable to find the icon, or the see it in the status bar or even in the customize window, you may need to disable some add-ons one by one to see if there’s a conflict.

Hopefully that will help out those of you experiencing these problems. We will be updating Twitbin again with a few minor design updates, as well as a few new functionalities that we believe will make plenty of you happy.

Tweet on!
