More milestones

June 7th, 2007

So we’ve been so busy working on some cool upgrades, we forgot to notice the uptick in traffic and use here. We wanted to keep you all posted on the progress the site has made in its first month. So without further ado here are the stats:

  • 4800 users
  • 5,000,000 Minutes used
  • 50,000+ messages posted
  • 73 Minute average session

Not bad for a month and a few bucks ;-)

Also, we now work in flock, and the brand new Netscape Navigator 9 browsers. We should be rolling out some more features in the coming weeks. I want to thank you all for using our tool, and I hope you all enjoy it immensely.
Thanks,
Brian Breslin

New Twitbin Version

May 24th, 2007

*Update: to get the latest version, you have to uninstall the original, and install the new one. We made a typo in the first one, so it doesn’t recognize you are upgrading. Sorry.*

We have officially released the second version of Twitbin as of yesterday afternoon. This latest version fixes a few bugs we had been notified of, as well as the biggest concern of all…. opening links in new tabs. Now all links in Twitbin open in new tabs. It was probably the number one request post launch, so we decided to make it happen.

We are still working on a few other suggestions that have been brought to our attention, so we will keep you all notified of any future updates or changes in the program. If anone has any ideas or suggestions to add, please post them here on our blog or shoot us an email at tweet@twitbin.com. Enjoy!

Twitbin is free, don’t pay for it.

May 21st, 2007

So while searching yahoo for twitbin, we noticed someone is charging $1 for downloads of twitbin. Let me remind you that twitbin is free, please do not pay anyone for the right to download it. It will always be free from our website. The site charging for twitbin premium downloads (not sure what makes it premium seeing as its under 50k) is called Softonic, no link because i don’t want to give them any SEO juice, but just a friendly reminder.

Our apologies to the 36 or so of you who might have possibly paid the $1 fee they are charging. We are working to get this resolved.

tooting our own horn

May 15th, 2007

So less than 5 days since our last post, we’ve made some minor upgrades (added a ton more RAM to our end), added some underlying things that won’t be apparent to everyone (we did add the character count many of you requested), and made lots of progress on building twitbin as a product/service with long term goals. Hey, a lot happens in a week. its been 10 days or so since we launched, and we’ve officially hit over 30,000 hours of use (1.8million minutes of use), 3200 users, and you guys have posted over 18000 messages to twitter via twitbin.

What’s coming this week, revised extension which fixes the link opening in the same tab issue and replaces it with a new tab open on link deal. Also, we’re announcing the ad pricing and info on how to purchase ads. Also, we’re working on some new functionalities to make it easier to get your direct messages and other personal messages easily. Oh yeah, almost forgot, we have another surprise some of you might like too, but that is still a secret. Can you guess what it is?

Breaking milestones

May 10th, 2007

So we wanted to keep you all updated on the progress going on here in the last 6 days. We’ve broken all of our original estimates for use, and adoption, and buzz. We want to thank you, the community for helping us get here. So here are a few of our milestones you’ve helped us reach:

  • 2,775 unique users
  • 940,000 minutes of operation
  • 12,000 new tweets posted via twitbin

So we wanted to thank you all, and remind you to add twitbin as a friend on twitter.

Twitbin upgrades coming

May 7th, 2007

So folks, we’ve sifted through the torrent of feedback and we want to thank you for it. We’re already hard at work on the next iteration. Things we’re planning for the near future:

  • tool tips for the icons
  • character count in the status area
  • favorite/star function soon

Other tweak we are making: open links in a new tab, this will require a bit more work, but we’re planning this for the end of the week.
If you’ve got some other super awesome ideas, please post them here so everyone can comment.

QuickTips - What the icons mean

May 6th, 2007

So I wanted to explain the icons, since they aren’t super intuitive. The gear icon lets you set your preferences: personal stream,  or the public one. the default should be the personal.   It also lets you set your refresh time. Default is 1 minute, but you can set it to 1, 5, or 10.

Next up is the Home button, that is where you login. We’re trying to think of something more intuitive, but alas, that was the first thing that came to mind.

The refresh button forces your twitter stream to manually update.
